Taking Action

One topic that I think is very important but a lot of people overlook is taking action.

Taking action is not only important in your daily activities and life, but it is also one of the most important steps in marketing.

So many people tell me they don't have enough clients and that they desperately want more. But when I ask them what they are doing for marketing or advertising I'm met with blank stares.

I even have clients that have a highly sophisticated marketing plan and know what to do. But they just don't take action. Why? Well for a lot of reasons but I think the biggest two are laziness (bad time management) and fear.

If you are saying to yourself that you don't have time for this or that, ask yourself, how many hours of TV do you watch a day? How many hours do you spend everyday surfing the web and watching videos on youtube? Probably more than you should. I'm not saying you should give up your life, I’m just saying you need to prioritize and get the steady flow of clients coming in on autopilot before you do anything else.

The other reason I think people don't take action is fear. Fear of failure would be the most common but if you think about it it's quite silly. Worst case scenario is that your marketing efforts won't pay off. Well, so what? You'll at least learn something and be able to improve on your plan. And what if it does work (which it probably will)? You'll have more clients (and revenue) than you can handle.

So ask yourself what you need to do today. Maybe it's sitting down and getting clear on what you want, maybe it's purchasing that book on marketing you've been eyeing on Amazon, or maybe it's hiring a marketing consultant to help you attain more clients. Whatever it is, take action now.
