Why Your Marketing isn't Working

If your marketing doesn’t seem effective you may want to ask yourself what you’re doing wrong. Well, have you found out what it is yet?

I’ll tell you what I see is one of the biggest mistakes in marketing…

You are too focused on yourself and your needs!

That’s right, you’re too focused on getting something and you’re not concerned at all with your prospect's and future client's needs. In all your marketing and conversations with clients is this sense of neediness that everyone can pick up from you. You’re desperately seeking new business and are too focused on yourself.

So what to do? Well, just flip it around. Give and give. Then give some more. You should be giving your clients or prospects massive value before you expect to do business. I’m not saying give away your products or services per se, but value. There are many ways to do this.

For example, if you were a financial advisor you may advertise a free review of their current investments and give them an overview on how they could do better or reach retirement sooner. If you were an attorney you could offer a free 20 minute phone call or consultation for legal advice. If you were a web designer you could offer a review of a client’s current website and offer advice. There are so many things that you could do for your clients to build massive value and attract more clients than you can handle.

The key to this is being focused on your client’s needs. When you give to your clients it will come back to you ten-fold. It might not come back from the same person who received it but it will come back eventually.

Don’t take this lesson lightly. It is so powerful that you could take this one simple idea and gain massive amounts of business. Go ahead, try it.
